The Book of Job tells how one man suddenly awakened to the anarchy rampant in the world, yet his attachment to God outlived the ruin of his tidy system. Retribution is a fascinating debut novel. I was hooked from the first page to the very end. Set in NYC, law student C.J. Townsend survives a brutal rape and disfigurement /5.

I love retribution stories where the downtrodden "get their own back". The Untouchables, Leon, The Crow all have the feel-good factor when the villain gets it in the end. This book is far more subtle than any of the above and the twists and turns in the courtroom make the story almost a one-sitting book/5().

While The Retribution, the 7th book in the Tony Hill & Carol Jordan series could theoretically be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading the other books first, most notably book 2, Wire in the Blood, as that deals with the same criminal and the events that led up to The Retribution.4/4().

Murder in Retribution is the second book in the Scotland Yard Mystery series and this second book is as outstanding as the first book, Murder in Thrall. I loved the unique blend of murder mystery and detective procedural that firmly stays focused on the detective skills and relationship between the intriguing main couple, Kathleen Doyle /5.

To be sure, some familiar details of the experience of its protagonist have come over into common knowledge. For example, even people who have scant comprehension of the content of the Bible are aware of Job’s words that the Lord gave and the Lord has taken.
